Twilight Fan Convention Stops in Hartford

Hannah and Hilly Hindi — a sister duo who produce “The Hillywood Show,” an online web series that spoofs various movies including “Twilight” — will host.

“It’s such an incredible place for fans to connect,” says “Twilight” cast member Tinsel Korey in a phone interview. “You meet additional public who like the movie and who have the same shared interest. Maybe others might not get that interest, but public at this convention do.”

“Twilight” rose to fame in 2005 with the release of the first of four books written by Stephanie Meyer. The young adult series about vampires, werewolves and like chronicles the life of Isabella “Bella” Swan, who moves to Washington and falls in like with 104-year-ancient vampire Edward Cullen.

After selling millions of copies, the books were then brought to life on-screen in 2008 with a film version starring Kristen Stewart as Bella and Robert Pattinson as as Edward. Since then, two additional films have been released — “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” in 2009 and “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” in 2010.

The next film, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Part 1)” will be released Nov. 18; the final film is expected to be released the following year.

Korey, who plays Emily Young in the films, will grow at the convention both days alongside Bronson Pelletier (Jared Cameron) and Booboo Stewart (Seth Clearwater). Peter Facinelli, who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen, appears Sunday only.

“We get to hang out with a lot of the fans. There’s a Vampire Ball and a Sunday Brunch where we get to talk to sit and talk with the fans,” Korey says. “It’s really interactive.”

Korey, Pelletier and Stewart (Booboo, not Kristen) will all grow at The Volutri Vampire Ball Saturday night. At the dance, prizes will be given away for best costume, best singer and best centerpiece.

The Sunday Brunch scheduled for 9 a.m. gives fans in attendance the opportunity to meet all of the attending “Twilight” cast members.

Panel discussions from two major “Twilight” fan sites — Twilight Lexicon and Twilight Moms — discuss all from what it’s like to attend a movie premiere to how to throw a “Twilight” party.

“I reckon public have misconceptions about conventions,” Korey says. “I’ve met such incredible public during this journey of ‘Twilight,’ hanging out with the fans and seeing why they like this movie.”

Fans keen to catch Korey in another project, aside from the next “Twilight” film, may be in for a handle.

“I’m really in talks for another movie with one of the additional Wolf boys [from "Twilight"]. I can’t say which because I don’t want to give anything away but we’re in negotiations,” Korey says. “I’m really excited about working with them on another project.”

Tickets to the Twilight convention at the Hartford Hilton Hotel, 315 Trumbull St., cost $15 and can be bought at the door. The Saturday Night Volturi Vampire Ball and the Sunday Brunch are an additional $69 each, per person. For more details, please visit http://www.twilightconvention.com.
